Kitchen design: Chandlers Ford

Our client in Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, wanted a downstairs remodel, including a bespoke design for the kitchen, a new dining area, family room, utility and office space.

They were looking for a timeless, family-friendly kitchen that would be in keeping with the style of their home. They also wished for casual seating in the kitchen, and storage solutions that would keep the worktops clear, to allow the kitchen to be used as a sociable space for the family and entertaining guests.

To provide plenty of sociable seating, worktop space for food preparation, and storage, we designed an island with an oak breakfast bar, creating a practical and attractive feature in the centre of the kitchen.

The island also helps to divide the kitchen area from the rest of space, keeping young children seated safely away from hot pans and sharp knives.

The island seating is the perfect spot to sit for casual meals, and provides a sociable and convenient space for guests to sit when entertaining; close enough to have a conversation with the chef but not getting in the way of cooking.

To help keep the kitchen surfaces free of clutter, we included dresser cabinets that sit on the worktop. These are perfect for storing small appliances: open the doors to reveal your toaster, microwave and other kitchen essentials, then hide the mess after use by simply closing the doors. This keeps appliances handy whilst not having them on display, avoiding the mess and clutter on the worktops.

The shaker doors in navy blue and light grey contribute to a neutral classic, timeless style in the kitchen, with added warmth and texture from the wood floor, oak bar and accents. White worktops keep the space feeling light and open, with pendant lights above the island to provide cosy feature lighting.
